New Travel Woes
Tosh: INSERT IMAGINITIVE CURSE WORDS HERE!!!!!!! I spent about three days planning out our Istanbul trip and booked all the necessary flights, hotels, and tours. It’s uncharacteristic of me to plan out my leisure travel like that; but the history of Byzantium/Constantinople/Istanbul interests me so much that I knew most of the things that I wanted to see. However, as I try to check us in for our flights online, the Pegasus Airlines app refuses to allow Tut to check in. As it turns out, Turkey has a requirement that a passport be valid for 180 days after the date of entering the country, regardless of when the traveler plans to leave. Tut’s passport expires in November this year. INSERT ADDITIONAL EXPLETIVES HERE!!
I call the airline to see if we can work anything out, but they say we just need to go to the airport to talk with someone in person. So, we all head to the airport at 1pm for a 7pm flight to see what’s what. It turns out that no one from Pegasus Airlines will open a desk prior to 5pm. So, as of right now, we’re sitting on the floor in Bucharest Airport, waiting to see if we are screwed.
Sometimes our laissez-faire travel style really bites us in the ass. A little bit more planning prior to leaving the US would have saved us both the trouble with the car here in Romania and this SNAFU with Tut’s passport allowances in Turkey. To be fair, we weren’t even sure we’d try to go to Turkey when we left the US; but still, @#$%^&!
