General Travel Plan

Typically, Johanna and I don't like to plan a trip too much. I think it's because we don't like to narrow down the possibilities of the trip. Once you buy a ticket or book a hotel or event, you've confined your trip to be in a certain spot at a certain time. Ironically, procrastinating too long will also narrow the possibilities for a trip. As the dates to go somewhere get closer, tickets to events or experiences can often sell out; and last minute bookings for hotels, planes, or trains can be expensive. Johanna and I choose to err on the side of decide-as-late-as-possible.

With that said, the following is our general plan, mostly formulated while we were in Hamburg a few days ago:

1. Kiel, Germany - spend a few days with Johanna's brother. Catch a train to -
2. Hamburg, Germany - Johanna's uncle's 50th wedding anniversary party. Train to-
3. Krakow, Poland - Tour Krakow & surroundings. Bus to-
4. Stary Smokovac, Slovakia - Hiking in the High Tatra Mountains. Bus?/train?/car? to-
5. Budapest, Hungary - Stay in Szendendre? Tour stuff around Budapest. Fly to-
6. Brasov, Romania - Hiking/touring around Transylvania. Car?/Bus?/Train? to-
7. Bucharest, Romania - Relax/tour in Bucharest. Fly to-
8. Istanbul, Turkey? - Tour Istanbul. Fly to-
9. Milan, Italy? - Tour Milan. Bus?/train?/car?/roadtrip? to-
10. Lichenstein? - Look around, see stuff. Bus?/train?/car? to-
11. Frankfurt - Fly home.
